Tree surgery in Selby and the surrounding villages.

Selby is a market town on the River Ouse with a conservation area centred on the Abbey and the older streets running off Gowthorpe and Ousegate. Since April 2023 the planning authority is North Yorkshire Council, which took over from the former Selby District Council, so conservation-area notices and Tree Preservation Order consents are handled through North Yorkshire now. The older town-centre gardens and the riverside plots carry a fair number of mature trees, and TPOs turn up on the bigger garden specimens and boundary trees.

Most of the work around Selby is in the residential streets and the surrounding villages: Barlby and Brayton on the edge of town, then out to Sherburn-in-Elmet, Cawood, Riccall and Wistow. That tends to mean crown reductions and reshaping on garden trees, hedge work, storm clear-ups off the flatter, more exposed land, and the occasional larger removal where a tree has outgrown its spot or started lifting a drive or wall.

Selby sits a short run south-east of our Garforth base, on the A63 through Monk Fryston and Hambleton, so it is comfortably inside our regular area. If you are not sure whether your tree is protected, run the postcode through the checker or send us the address. We confirm the status with North Yorkshire Council before we quote, and handle any application on your behalf.
