A tree surgeon (or arborist) looks after trees: pruning and crown reduction to keep them healthy and safe, felling and removal when a tree is dead, dangerous or in the wrong place, stump grinding, hedge cutting, emergency storm work, and written surveys and reports for planning or mortgages. We do all of it across Leeds and York, and we'll always recommend the lightest-touch option that solves the problem.

Yes, they're two names for the same trade. 'Arborist' is the technical term and 'tree surgeon' the everyday one; both mean someone trained to care for and work on trees safely. Jack holds an NPTC Level 2 Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture and works to ARB Approved standards.

There's no flat rate: the cost depends on the size of the tree, the access and how the wood is dealt with, so we price each job on its own after a free site visit and give you a written, fixed quote with no obligation. Light rain, yes. We work through most British weather. We stop for high winds, electrical storms or anything that makes climbing and rigging unsafe, and we'll reschedule rather than rush a job in dangerous conditions. If the weather turns on the day, we'll always be straight with you about it.
