Surveys, reports & planning.

Written arboricultural reports for planning applications, homebuyers and lenders, plus full TPO and conservation area consent handling.

AA-registered reports, paperwork handled.

Our reports are written by an Arboricultural Association-registered consultant. Plain enough for a homeowner to follow, rigorous enough for a planning officer or mortgage surveyor. We handle the council paperwork from submission to decision.

Most of inner Leeds sits within a conservation area. If you're planning work and aren't sure whether you need permission, the answer is usually yes, and the process is usually more straightforward than people expect. We'll tell you either way, and we can handle the application on your behalf.

Questions we get asked

Do I need permission to work on a tree in a conservation area?
Usually yes. Most of inner Leeds sits within a conservation area, which means you need to notify the council before pruning or felling. The process is more straightforward than most people expect, and we can handle the application on your behalf from submission to decision.
What is a BS5837 survey and do I need one?
A BS5837 survey assesses trees in relation to a proposed development and is usually required to support a planning application. If you're building, extending or laying foundations near trees, your planning officer will most likely ask for one. A quick call is enough for us to confirm whether you need it.
Do I need a tree report for my mortgage?
Sometimes. If there's a large tree close to the property, a lender or surveyor may ask for an arboricultural report on its condition and any subsidence risk before they'll lend. We write mortgage and homebuyer tree reports to the standard lenders expect: plain enough to read, rigorous enough to satisfy the surveyor.
What is an arboricultural report?
It's a written assessment of a tree or trees by a qualified arboriculturist, covering condition, safety and, depending on why it's needed, the impact of nearby building work or the case for removal. Ours are written by an Arboricultural Association-registered consultant and cover planning (BS5837), mortgage and homebuyer reports, and insurance and court work.
