How we work

What you can expect

Qualified

NPTC Level 2 Diploma

Level 2 Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture. Work to ARB Approved standards. £5m public liability and £10m employer's liability, certificates available on request.

Transparent

Written quotes, no surprises

We visit the site before we price anything. What we quote is what you pay. We'll tell you if a job is outside our area of expertise, and who to call instead.

Careful

Light touch where possible

We lean toward doing less rather than more. Most tree problems have a sympathetic solution that doesn't involve a chainsaw. We'd rather give a tree ten more years than take it down for the convenience of it.

Common questions

Before you call.

Do you charge for a quote?
No. Site visits and written quotes are always free, anywhere inside our service area. We aim to visit within a week, sooner if it's urgent.
Is my tree in a conservation area or under a TPO?
If you're not sure, we'll check and handle the council application from start to finish. Most of inner Leeds sits inside a conservation area. It's normal and usually straightforward.
When is the best time of year for tree work?
Most pruning is cleaner in autumn and winter once the leaves are off, when we can read the structure properly. Cherry, birch and plum we reduce in mid-summer to reduce disease risk. Hedges with nesting birds always wait until September at the earliest.
What happens to the wood and brash?
We take it all away as standard. If you'd like the timber for firewood, tell us at the visit and we'll cut it to length and stack it. Brash is chipped on-site and goes to local biomass.
Are you insured?
Yes, £5m public liability and £10m employer's liability, both current. We're happy to include the certificates with your quote if you need them for records.
How do you decide if a tree should come down?
Slowly, honestly, and only when there isn't a better option. We'll always look at reduction or thinning first. Trees are slow to grow back and most problems respond better to a lighter approach than clients expect.
